Reconstruction of the Entrance Hall – Municipality of Kotor, Old Town
In the heart of Kotor’s Old Town, we carried out the reconstruction of the entrance hall of the Municipality building – a space that had retained the appearance created after the post-earthquake rehabilitation following the 1979 earthquake. The intervention at that time was minimal and primarily focused on restoring the building’s basic functionality, so the space had not undergone any significant renovation since then.
The goal of this project was to restore a representative character to the hall, appropriate for a public institution, while introducing modern technical and functional solutions. The existing wooden ceilings, partition elements and walls that had gradually fragmented the space were removed. This allowed the creation of an open and visually clear environment that enables easier movement and provides a more comfortable experience for citizens during their everyday administrative visits.
New metalwork was installed which, in addition to providing a more contemporary visual identity, significantly improves the thermal insulation of the space and increases the efficiency of the heating system in the hall. Special attention was given to wall finishes and decorative techniques that add warmth and character to the interior, while modern lighting further highlights the architectural elements and creates a pleasant atmosphere.
As a subtle reminder of the building’s history, the original marble flooring from 1979 was preserved – an element that symbolically connects the past with the contemporary renovation of the space.
Through this reconstruction, the entrance hall of the Municipality of Kotor has gained a new identity: functional, representative, and adapted to the modern needs of citizens, while respecting the historical context in which it is located.
